Electrician quote
Make the quote on the spot from your phone: add your details, your client’s and the items, then save it as a PDF or print it. No sign-up.
What an electrician’s quote includes
- Countable units. In electrical work almost everything is counted: light points, sockets, accessories, circuits. Put the quantity of each: the client sees what they pay for and you see what you have promised.
- Materials that matter. If the client chooses accessories or light fittings, say who buys them. If you supply them, state the range or brand; otherwise the price difference ends in an argument.
- How much of the installation you touch. “New circuit from the consumer unit to the kitchen” is not the same as “replace the socket”. Make clear where the work stops.
- Building work separately. Chasing walls, making good and decorating are usually someone else’s job: say whether you include them.
- Paperwork. Some work needs a certificate or must be notified to the authorities, and the rules differ by country and by type of installation. In the UK, for example, a lot of domestic electrical work falls under Building Regulations (Part P in England and Wales). If it applies to you, put it on its own line.
What to put in the terms
- Power cuts: warn that the power will be off for a while and, if neighbours or a shop are affected, who deals with that.
- Hidden defects: if checking the consumer unit or opening a box reveals poor wiring, you tell the client before carrying on and quote for it separately.
- Access: who lets you in, where the consumer unit is, whether furniture has to be moved.
- Guarantee and payment: what you cover and for how long, and when you are paid. If you buy costly materials, ask for part on acceptance.
Common mistakes
- Quoting an extension without looking at the supply capacity and the state of the consumer unit: it may need work first.
- Not writing that the quote covers a single visit and that fault-finding is charged separately.
- Spreading the work over several days with no date: put an estimated time in the notes.
How to use this template
The items and prices are examples: adjust them to your rates. You can add typical items (dedicated circuits, breakers, ceiling fans…), choose the country for the currency and tax rate, and save your details in the browser so you do not retype them.
